Manifesto

YPiC was born out of collaboration from across the construction industry, involving architects, contractors and professional services. It was founded by Linzi Hedalen and Susan Currie of Dentons UK ME LLP, Andrew Marshall and Doug Pearson of 3DReid, and Ryan Schofield and Moyra Coutts of BAM.

The multi-disciplinary make-up of the YPiC committee is essential to ensure that we remain open and inclusive to the wider construction industry. Historically, the committee was represented by two members per firm to maintain a cross discipline representation, however, as we look to expand beyond Scotland we will naturally evolve.

The YPiC Committee hold a shared ethos, as to what networking for Young Professionals in Construction exists to achieve. Paramount to the team is that YPiC offers something a little different in relation to networking while providing an open forum to engage with key industry speakers.

Building on this ethos, each event is designed to be inclusive, social, and casual but focused. Our aim is to hold quarterly events in both of our existing regions, Scotland (alternating between Edinburgh and Glasgow) and London.

Each event will follow a similar format;

• Networking icebreaker

• Key speaker + Q&A

• Post speaker drinks and networking

• Close

Upon the completion of each event, feedback will be sought through an electronic survey. The committee recognise the importance of opinion. YPiC is committed to reviewing and incorporating your feedback to improve your experience.

Young Professionals in Construction will constantly challenge how meaningful networking can be achieved, whilst maintaining the core ethos of being a little bit different.
